"Exuberant" "Inspiring" "Captivating"
Babette Beatty, world traveler, former fashion model and dynamic artist, "lives through color." In recent years her inspiration has been the breathtaking vistas of Halfway, OR. Working in oil, Beatty says "I walk into a blank canvas and paint my way out."
During the 1960s as a top fashion model, Beatty was immersed in the New York art and fashion scene. Leading artists and photographers of the time encouraged Beatty to pursue her own artistic talent. Her early work included wearable textiles carried by major studios in Santa Fe, Tucson, Aspen, Palm Beach, Naples and New York. She was featured on Oregon Public Broadcasting in their series "Oregon Art Beat" as well as in a special on HGTV. Beatty exhibits in her own gallery in Halfway. Collectors of her work hail from Sun Valley, ID, across California and even Hong Kong.
In addition to oil, Beatty also works in stone and in textiles. Her favorite work is "always the one I just finished." She notes that "painting happens through me, I become unaware that I am the painter." Prices range from $850 to $8000 US.
